I have taken on a basement remodel. Turning part of the basement into a room and bath for a teenage boy. All went well until the plumber found the sump contained with black mold or fungus, don’t know which. It smells pretty bad. We didn’t notice it until he, the plumber, uncovered the sump and sump pump to reroute some sanitary lines and some supply lines. Home owner says he has to put bleach in the sump every few days. We, actually my plumber, thought it was sanitary getting into the sump, but he has ruled that out after doing some tests. Anyone have any suggestions to get rid of the fungus or mold. It seems to grow around the edges of the water and where the water runs down the side of the sump. My plumber has his own independent business but this is a job I called him in on so its my job to ask this site for solutions. He is exploring other places for answers.
