I saw something over the weekend that I thought was a neat idea, and thought I’d bring it up.
I was helping remodel an apartment this weekend. Before we got started, Poking around here and there. It’s always interesting to see what people have left behind when they move out.
Anyway I opened up this bathroom vanity, and someone had put a piece of floor vinyl in it. Apparently they had enough leftover from the bathroom floor that they cut a piece to fit the bottom surface of the vanity. I thought it was a real nice effect – Looked good, since it matched the floor. And it was a lot more water resistant than the particle board piece it was sitting on.
So is this common? Does everybody do it elsewhere and I’m the only one who doesn’t know about this? Or was this a unique idea?
Anyone who thinks old age is golden must not have had a very exciting youth.

Yes, you are the only one.
Yes, I have some left over vinyl under the kitchen sink. I also have a rollout draw with booze and stuff and I lined it with more of the vinyl. That was in 1979 so you are REALLY out of date.
Common thing from the 40's. Suspect as long as there has been left over flooring it has been installed in cabinets.
Earth to Boss..........

Well, you can't expect us small redneck towns to keep up on modern trends................(-:
I swear, as long as I've been around I've never seen it done before.
But this was in St. Louis - Not near home.Hear about the terrorist that hijacked a 747 full of lawyers? He threatened to release one every hour if his demands weren't met.
Was this in an outside "two holer" or an inside bathroom in one o them rich folks houses?
Experienced, but still dangerous!

I would not use it. I use waterproof contact paper thats big enough to go up the back and sides by 1/4" or more.
When the bath vanity or kitchen sink has leaks, the water will come out to let you know there is a leak. Oher wise a leak will creep to the sides of the linoleun and swell up all the wood in the cabinet base.
