Ok. I have decided to paint my bathroom like the sky. I have picked a perfect light blue as the base, but I need to paint some clouds. With all the artistic people out there on this board, who can point me in the right direction? I am artistic but I am not sure where to start with painting clouds. I don’t want stensiled clouds, I want them fairly realistic. I don’t want many, just a few here and there.
I can’t decide if I should just do the top portion of it as sky and the middle as a beach with palm trees (we honeymooned in Maui, so that would be fun.) Or if I should do the whole room as a sky to appear as if the room was floating. The bottom third of the walls are white tile. Everything in the bathroom is white.
PS. I am done sanding, scraping, scraping, scraping, sanding and two coats of primer! Now the fun stuff!!!

What kind of clouds are you looking for?
First thing you should decide is where the light is coming from. Sunrise, sunset, from within the bathroom...
2nd What kind of clouds? Storm clouds, wispy clouds...
3rd Paint.
4th Lay back in the tub and enjoy.

Yeah, what PLANTLUST said.
Are you going to have a shower curtain? This would affect your natual light, even if it is pulled aside.

Good points everybody. I am going to paint a mix of fluffy clouds and wispy clouds. No storm clouds in my bathroom! :)
So far, the blue background has gone up and it is the perfect color, exactly what I am going for. The paint is replacing a dark and dingy blue wallpaper. It is amazing how much brighter and more enjoyable the room is now. It almost appears as if the light is coming through the walls. I love it!
After your post at CT, are you sure it's not the sunlight coming through the ceiling?

LOL!
Yes, it isn't the actual sunlight Fledge! The walls are fine now, thank god. It was just the paint that was falling down on me. Huge clumps of old paint! I scraped it all off and that was one hell of a job. :( But it didn't take long but it wore out my arms. After scraping, sanding and priming, the ceiling now has one coat of blue and it looks really really good. I chose a satin finish to the paint and it is reflecting the sunlight so beautifully. :) It was an impulse purchase at Home Despot and I have been thrilled with my color choice. :)

Whether or not you go for a mural is entirely up to you - your tastes and your skill level, but with the white tiles and fixtures, I think I'd choose to go for the cloud effect only - simpler, more elegant, and not as likely to be tiresome in a few years (or even months). IMNSHO, murals and trompe effects should be left only to those who can do them extremely well - I've seen far too many amateurish efforts that just look silly and inept. (Fledge, judging from the photo you posted, yours is NOT in the amateurish class at all!)
Fledge looks at wall again.
You might not say that about my new one.
It was a quickie, but still fun.
Thanks Sandra.
