I am in the process of finishing the upstairs of my new cape cod home and have some questions regarding the bathroom vent fan configuration. The house is located in western NY. The bathroom is located on the west side of the house so it gets quite a bit of wind. The house has a 8′ wide dormer off the back with a gable roof. This is where the bathroom will be located. I am wondering what type of penetration is better for the vent. I presume a vent on the gable wall of the bathroom would be easier to install than one that requires a roof penetration. Are there any drawbacks to a gable vent. The entire space above the bathroom ceiling will be dense packed with cells. Any information/recomendations are appreciated.
