So how bad was it in the bad old days?
I had a one ton ford- master cylinder was non existent- no brakes at all- used to throw it in low to slow down- reverse to stop.
I worked six months on a job at the top of a hill. I would stay until dark so I could see the headlights below and time my escape.I would drive down the hill with a tire rubbing the curb sometimes.
I have vivid memories of a snow storm and steering the truck into the concrete rails of an overpass to avoid the cars in front of me.
To say we had no money would be painting a rosey picture…
When things turned around and I traded this truck in- the sales guy took it from in front of the building and ran it thru the service door of the dealership- should of let me drive it- I offered.
One time the accelerator stuck as I was pulling into a gas station-
I hardly ever get excited anymore
