I realize that my work is not at they Fine Homebuilding level that a lot of yours is but I am none the less proud of the results when we are able to turn a kitchen that looks like this one into the one we managed and did so profitably and within the homeowners budget. So as generic as it may be here it is.

I'm sure it's not generic to them and that's more important than what anyone else has to say.
Looks great.
Exactly what xhammer says, to these people it may be better than anything that you see in those fancy magazines, if you have a satisfied customer than all is well and you did good.
Doug
There is nothing to apologize for on that job, looks great!
quit being modest, it looks great, besides Finehomebuilding isn't so much fancy material or expensive appliance it's quality building, customer service and not cutting every corner you can to make a buck.
looks and sounds like you achieved fine home building to me.
Nice work Dan....I am.... proud of the results when we are able to turn a kitchen that looks like this one into the one we managed and did so profitably and within the homeowners budget. Looks and sounds like FHB to me.

I appreciate the kind comments. The home owners had hired someone else 4 years ago to put on an addition and finish the kitchen. From the homeowners story the guy milked the job and ran it out of money. Now I only heard the homeowners version but they were some of the best folks I have every worked for so I tend to believe at least some of it. And the guys not in business anymore.
Anyway they saw some of our work and asked if we could do something for them on a budget. We also installed new oak treads on the stairs and covered the risers, new base trim throughout the house and pergo floors in the living room and dining room. But it is amazing they lived in it like that for 4 years. There was no power to the addition and no heat. Anyway it really turned out well. Thanks again. DanT

That's correct. My company gets a lot of criticism for designing a Mercedes on a Kia budget (to update the Cadillac-Buick analogy). Kitchen scope creep is notorious, especially in this era of kitchens for entertaining parties with multiple chefs. A quality budget kitchen will outlast many of the trendy fads, and in the end be of even more value.
Nice work,
...that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Nice, DanT......
I agree with MrT, why no apples?....<G>
Nice job Dan.........I only saw two things I would have done differently...........
1. add a can light over the cook top and the refrigerator
2. Level the refrigerator by taking off the front grill and turning the adjustment screws on each side. If it is level, adjust it so the reveal matches the cabinet and wall.

I applaud you.....
Job well done..........

I see your point. We chose not to put a can over the stove top due to the fact the micro wave has a built in stove light. And of course the fridge has the interior lights but the other consideration was that we felt if we continued the soffit out into the kitchen area further it would make of a really small ceiling area and cause some shadowing on the back corners. We did level the fridge, of course after the pictures were taken. We had to be out of the house quickly due to them wanting to show family and the floor had just been completed. So while the floor was being wiped up and small touches being done I was taking pictures. DanT
looks great..geez , the before pics are like mine..wanna see ugly?

Well, you could say: "Honey, choose the one room in the house where you want to rule"......Then, you could give her a choice, the kitchen or the bedroom...........

Stan,
Thanks, and thanks for the info as to how to post photos. I really appreciate the kind comments. I am real pleased with the job as I said before but due to not using some of the high end material that are commonly mentioned here felt a little insecure about posting. Thanks again. Sure made my week, both events! DanT
Dan, nothing to be insecure about. Not all of our jobs are graced with a good sized pocketbook. Nice job.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.
