I’m going to be putting in new shelves in two bedroom closets (both are walk-in). I don’t have much experience in woodworking and have a couple questions…
I’m planning to put in 14-16″ shelves instead of standard 12″ for more storage room. Althought they don’t need to be immaculate, I would like them to look nice. I don’t want to use metal brackets since all I’ve seen are rather ugly, and I want to use some sturdy wood to avoid the sagging that can come with plywood or particle board. Can anyone suggest how I should handle the support/brackets for the shelves, and what kind of wood would be best to use? (without costing a ton)
My wife and I have looked at wire shelving and don’t really care for it. We’re planning to paint the shelves, since it seems easier than staining and sealing (which I’ve never done before).
Thanks in advance,
Vaul (Jon)
