I read the article in the last FH about framing nailers. Which brands make a sequential type trigger that won’t double fire? Model #’s? Advice on best brands?

I have a duo fast framing nailer. Dont know the model # but it has a green trigger or something green on it. I think that means its sequential. My hands all hate it because they cant bang it against the wood to make it fire. I told them the gun is made like that so they will have time to stop and THINK before they secure a board with 5000 nails only to find it is in the wrong place. It is aggrivating when putting on decking though.
*Dont know of any...sorry, but I wouldnt buy one anyway. Especially if you frame. I could not imagine nailing of sheating and having to pull the trigger for every single nail. Just more wrist damage potential I think. They would be nice for pickup work I guess...but I just use a cordless Paslode for that. What kinda work you doing? Just curious. LAter

I had a Senco once. It gave me nothing but trouble. For the price I like the Paslode. It's lighter than the older guns, and the nails can be bought almost anywhere ( take that DuoFast ). We still frame some applications by hand ( I learned to frame before nail guns were common place ), but for speed and ease you can't beat a nail gun.

find your senco dealer...ours in indiana is great, same day service on the jobsite when needed.. . he can modify the senco frame nailer... sequencial or bump fire...

I've used Senco's 325+ and Paslode's new Powermaster Plus. The Senco stays on the shelf now, it double fires a lot. If you have the compressor to keep up with it, the Paslode will fasten SYP all day with out a problem. Our salesman is in our area twice a week for service or nails. I haven't needed any repairs yet on the Paslode (6 mos).

paslode rules, but I don't think they can be rigged to single fire.

*Check out FHB# 105 (I think) for a survey of framing nailers. The models available with seqential or restrictive trip triggers are noted. Most major brands offer triggers that convert contact trip into sequential. Many knockoffs of Bostich N80 series nailers will accept Bostich trigger conversion kits. (craftsman, reliant, devilbis, and others)
*Check the archives. I think this perennial subject has a lot of disk space storing all our personal biases and preferences.Best idea after reading the archives? Go shoot some nails to see which one feels the best to you and matches your budget. Buy that one.
