Blackberry vs Samsung Delve

rasconc | Posted in Business on April 24, 2009 06:53am

Realize cell selection has been beat to death but thought maybe time to look at the current crop.  Been itching to get something a little cooler than my Razr.  Went to beach last weekend and expected to have wi-fi but didn’t.  Couple with us had iphone (hers), and Blackberry (his).  I tried the iphone and was not all that impressed.  Granted I did not use it enough to get familiar but things seemed very slow.  My fingers did not work well with the keyboard.  Today I played with the Delve today and had no problem fingerwise.

US Cellular has the Samsung Delve touch screen that looks like it would do all I want.  Can get it used from them for $200 with no ext of my contract.  The sales guy had a Blackberry Curve and said he loved it. Son has one and seems to do fine with it in a landscape/tree business.  I want to be able to do e-mail and minor web browsing.  It looks like there are a bunch of both on ebay.

Blackberry adds 25/mo vs the other service 20

I saw the Otter Box for the Crackberry and it looked like pretty substantial protection.

Any reports to consider?

I pay $10 a month for my Samsung Eternity on my family plan w/AT&T ($15 if you have no family plan). Looks like a much more simple version of the iPhone with less apps.  The keyboard I find GREAT and I have gigantic carpenter fingers. I had a Blackberry first then returned it for this phone. I just didn't need most of what the BB had plus the monthly fee was way more then I wanted to pay...fagetabout about the iPhone montly fee. apparently a lot of people in the forum below claim theu like this phone more then the iPhone they had....hard to belive but thats what they claim.

I can get on line fast with it (3G). I can read my mail...post in BT if I want. I can do pretty much anything on it. Even has a phone...lol.

Thanks, that model is not one that my carrier has.  We have only two carriers worth considering here in the mountains.  US Cellular that I have ben with over 11 yrs and Verizon.  That link did get me to forums for most of the phone I was considering though.  I need to check and confirm what the data packages really cover from US Cell.  A $15 plan got nav but not unlim text/pic and the $20 has t/p but not nav.  Not sure I really need either.  Felt that $25 was a bit much for B'berry, although I really liked the size and keyboard on the Curve.

I like the looks of the B'berry Storm and will check if an unlocked one will work on my carrier.  Have been considering going to Verizon since my son is on Altell adn sister and daughter are on ver.

I guess it is a write-off since we have another cell phone and this is for business.

I got the notification letter from Social Insecurity yesterday that said I was getting a $250 stimulus payment.  Told the wife that Pres O was buying me a crackberry, that is the exact cost of a used one from my carrier.  It must be a omen.  She is convinced that I do not need one, but then she is convinced there are a LOT of things I do not need(deserve?).For those who have fought for it Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.

tell your wife that the man has one & it would be politically incrorect not to have one in case you run into a democrat on your travels

I told her it would be my act of conciliation and acceptance. (;-)For those who have fought for it Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know.
