I went to Idaho Tool today, I swear just for a 1/4″ sanding sleeve, but there on the shelf it lay. The infamous Shark-Grip 24 oz. aardvark hammer. My curiosity was piqued. Jim Blodgett said he tried one and loved it. But, its so butt-ugly. How much, I asked? “well, Bob, normally it would be 27 bucks, but for you, today, only 20.” How could I refuse? Tomorrow we see how the aardvark works. Gotta be the cheapest hammer I’ve bought since rigging axes were only 15 bucks. Thats a LONG time ago. I’ll let you know tomorrow if I get used to it. I’m left handed, though, so who knows?

Hi Bob,way off topic here.
We're kinda neighbors. I tried to email you but it got kicked back.
Got a project I'd like to talk to you about...interested?
Maybe you can use the new hammer.
Damn it man I need pictures. Aardvark hammer??? I hope he isn't pounding on our long nosed friends.
I'm in Florida, its like a real political campaign here with all the spin and wind lately, but we have fire ants. I say let the aardvarks eat.
And I thought those things were ducks.
Well, after a days work, I think i like the aardvark hammer. I knew Jim Blodgett would never steer a guy wrong.(?) The only thing wrong with it is its smooth faced. I finally quit laughing every time I pulled it out and when I got used to it, it works real good. The claw is really just an oversized cats-paw. There was a cartoon character years ago with a head just like this hammer. I can't remember the name, though. I can't believe I'm using this butt-ugly hammer and telling anyone about it. 4LORN1, I don't have the technology to do pics with this toy laptop. PeterJ, try e-mailing me again. I use a hammer every day. [email protected]. Good to hear from a fellow Idahonian.
Is it this hammer? Funny Looking Hammer
Basically, thats the beast. Mine is a Shark-grip, so it is slightly different. Mine is 24 oz. with a smooth face and no magnetic nail holder above the head. Mine has it under the claws. Its a pretty cool hammer, but I'm not sure its going to permanently replace my Dalluge Sweet 16 titanium hammer.
Aardvarks rule! Love those hammers!
Hey. If you really want a milled face, I know where to get one here in WA, Bob. Last time I looked they had dropped the price to around 20 bones.
Now the weight is another question. I always thought mine was 15 0z, or something. But I wrote a tool review a few years ago about it and had a heck of a time getting accurate info on what they weigh. One place said 24. Another said 18. Never could decide which was accurate and started wondering exactly WHAT part of a hammer the "weight" applies to anyway.
Whatever it weighs, mine is a nail drivin' sumbuck. I love it still. More like a wand than a hammer.
I framed and sheathed my addition using that hanmmer from Lee valley. Worked very well indeed. Good feel, good balance. It was particularly good for extending my nailing range when up the ladder or on the roof.

Hey Jim,
You got a wand and your not sharin' it with all of us?
Can you make the rain stop per chance?
Can you make the walls go up presto bingo like?
