Hello all! I’m roofing my shed with a hip roof and asphalt three-tab shingles, and everything has gone well on the front side (all I could do this evening before dark), but I have a small piece of a tab next to the hip on nearly every course. For my first course, I just started near the center and snapped a bond line six inches from the edge of the center shingle and worked off that. Is there a more correct way to do it? I’m not necessarily intersted in being perfect; I just don’t want the little tabs to look bad or stick up once the hip caps are installed. Thanks in advance, and I’ll ty to locate the FHB Roofing book a the library this P.M.; I know it has an article or two on this subject.
