Bonus room over garage needs heat/AC

Hello,
Finally finishing off the bonus room. It’s a 22 x 26 space. Knee walls, 12 pitch roof and I’ll make the ceiling flat at around the 9′ mark (don’t want that high cathedral peak). I have an oil furnace with forced hot air. I can easily run ducts over but when we had central air added to the system this past summer the HVAC guy said the two trunks that feed the upstairs don’t have the flow (cross section) to split off of again for the additional room. I do have LP gas I could use for the stove. Any suggestions? Should I just throw in elect baseboard? Should I run some trunks off the main system and see if I can balance it? The upstairs seems plenty capable now so I don’t think it would have any trouble with the heat… the A/C is another story. That seems much more volume of air dependent. Any small gas heaters people have seen used? Any other creative options? I’m in CT so I see the full spectrum of temperatures.
Thanks

You can get a ductless mini-split AC or heat pump. Those have an external compressor unit like central air and small wall are ceiling mounted evaporator and fan unit about the size of the part of a window air that sticks in the room.
You can go with just the heat pump, but I am not sure in your climate.
Or you could add a direct vent gas heater or direct vent gas "fireplace".
BTW, I am wonder where this BONUS room came from.
Now you designed the addition, got the permits, had the addition all framed up. And when you got done there was thie extra room that you did not know about?
Bill, thanks for the info.
BTW: You obviously never did your own major renovation... or you have a lot more money than me. I was lucky to get 1/2 inch plywood thrown on the floor as the job was nearing completion and my funds running out :-(. Now that a couple years have gone by we decided to tackle it. Shortsighted thinking on my part? Guilty as charged. As for the term... isn't that a legit generic term? How about "the room over my garage that once framed in I realized could actually be turned into living space without too much effort". Does that make you happier?Charlie

In your case it might be a legit term.
It is just one of my little pet pevees (which unlike my other pet does not need water and food <G>).
I think it is such an oxymorron when I see a new home advertised as having a "bonus room".
