Doing bookcases in customers house. Ceilings are approximately 12 feet high. the layout is L shaped, appr. 12 feet on each side . the rolling ladder has to be able to make the inside turn . the bookcases will be painted white . i looked through all the Fine Homebuilding magazines but i could not fing anything. i also looked in my built in furniture book no luck. Do you know of any other publications about libraries with rolling ladders? my client likes arts and crafts, frank lloyd wright etc. could really use some design ideas. thanks for any input. by the way i located the company who makes the rolling ladder (putman in new york) hope to hear from you guys soon.

What's your question? If you're going to buy a ladder from the manufacturer you cite, you should probably also buy the rail for the ladder from them too. After that, you're only building bookcases and installing the Putnam stuff.
Are you looking to design and build your own ladder? If so, good luck. A couple years ago, I searched real hard for a source for just the hardware -- y'know, wheels that run sideways, and a rail attachment that also slides up and down a little to allow the ladder to stow vertically -- and didn't find anybody.
Google "library ladders" and you'll get more hits than you can shake a stick at. For design ideas, you may need to hire a designer if you aren't comfortable with that style. Or ask a more specific question.
