I ordered a Bosch 18V cordless planer from the US. Got it in Japan a week ago, but was a little disappointed. I’m building a traditional Japanese house right now and the door jambs are 1″ pine, and extend out past the drywall 1/2″ on each side, with no casing. the drywall butts right up against the finished jamb.
Anyway, I was planning on using the planer to finish up the edges of the jambs, but it gave a really rough edge, not like the one I’m used to getting from my corded Makita planer. Is the Bosch cordless tool mainly used for other applications, I mean, other than putting a finished edge on a board…? I’m going to run in through some more tests, but I’m afraid I may have wasted my money instead of just sticking to my Makita planer, however short the cord is……!

cutter is dull..
feed rate is too fast..
depth of cut is a bit much...
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
WOW!!! What a Ride!
Forget the primal scream, just ROAR!!!
Yeah, I've got one and have used someone else's extensively. Never had a problem. Dull cutter, feed rate seems right. Love the dust bag that switches sides. I use it more than my corded..
Any or the things IMERC posted
also - Battery might not have a full charge - blade spins too slow when the battery gets low - throw it on the charger again, might take a few cycles for battery to get full charge.
