Bosch 18v question

rez | Posted in Tools for Home Building on June 20, 2008 04:18am

Can and what happens if one were to swap out batteries from the Drill Brute 18v Bluecore 2.4a and the Bosch 18v 5 piece recip, circ saw, flashlight, impact and regular drill driver which has 18v 2.0a batteries?

I have 30min to decide if I want to buy the 5piece or not since the rebate is over with today.

$398 and a $150 gift card rebate for $248 total.

Bought the last 18v Brute they had and are getting no more in. Sale priced at $155 and an $80 Gift card rebate.

Thought about making a clean sweep on cordless and getting the two more batteries with the kit but the interchange of 2.4 and 2.0 I don't know.

Would have been ? 70$ for 2 new 181 batts + a free drill and yep they work.

Sorry saw it a day late.

Might still be available wherever you are located as the rebate is still good for a couple weeks on the 18v Brute drill kit if your Lowes still has any in stock. The last day rebate was on the 5piece set.

Apparently the Brute drill model is being discontinued and replaced with another model hence the clerk's statement they will not be getting any more of that model in.

I just migrated to the new 36v stuff.

But got to keep the 18v for the jig saw.

Will get some comments out on the new stuff but I need to put it to more use.

I don't like the slow charging compared to the 15 min charger of the 18v.

This older model 2.4a18v Brute drill is a 30min charger.

When I originally was using the 14.4 I upgraded the charger to the 15 min  one and it's been nice.

And after I got the 18V kit which had the ? 1 hr charger the 15 min one does them all. But now I'm back to the 1hr with the kit so I'll be watching for the ? 36v quick charger.

I also did some hunting a while back and the new generation of the 14.4 and the 18v are more compact and  the motor is the same ? I think that's what I found out looking at the spec pdfs.

          4. rez | Jun 22, 2008 03:26am | #13

That Lowes had one 14.4 drilldriver left plus the display model but hsd a $60 Lowes gift card that was just given for purchase with the regular pricing

so I got the 18v for cheaper than the 14.4.

Outta watch that 14.4 to see if they discount that one too

then I can have one for each hand.

Too bad I didn't see this till now. I could have told you the tools turn into solid gold, thus allowing you to retire early. Oh well, maybe next time.--------------------------------------------------------

Bummer.  It would have worked fine.  When I bought new batteries for my 18V  Bosch drill I upgraded to the Bluecore.
