Brad Nailer – Takes all types brads?
My current 18ga brad nailer (Bostich) has a tendency to shoot two brads every 25 or so times the trigger is pulled, leaving the second brad sticking out like a wild hair. More putty and the result isn’t that great. I figure the reason is I’m using PC brads, the only type that is available locally.
Does anyone have a good brad nailer that accepts different manufacturers brads?

Save yourself the dough and order them online. Amazon.com is one source.

You mean the brads, right? I could order some Bostich brads, assuming they make them, but that means whenever I need to restock, I'll have to reorder. I'd rather have a gun that takes any kind that's out there. But I'll look at Amazon, thanks.

Yea I know what you mean about having them right there. I kind of feel dumb now instead of looking for brads at Amazon I should have suggested looking at Brad nailers. LOL

Also check the tightness of the bolts around the nose of your gun. My new bostich shot 2 brads right out of the box until things were tightened up.
I have a Bostich 18 ga and use PC brads all the time with no trouble. Have you replaced the piston and driver in your nailer?
I have been using stanley, Bostwich and Porter Cable brads in my Porter Cable brad nailer for years now with no problem. Even though the ridges in the loader may beplaced for another brands particular length, I just raise them up off the bottom plate and set the brad head in the next higher slot- and everything works fine.

the difference between stumbling blocks and stepping stones is the way you use them.
Interesting. I have a new 18 ga Bostitch nailer that seems to work well, but I am surprised at the amount of plastic in it. Like the entire magazine, and the end cap on the hose end.
I have Bostitch 15 ga nailer that seems to shoot one and a half nails way too frequently. The good part is that it is very easy to clear the jamb.

My Senco takes everything. The PC does too. Both are good guns.
I have a Paslode brad nailer that takes all types of brads. Around here the Senco are available, but I've used Bostitch and Paslode brads also. It works flawlessly. I have used a couple of the Senco brad nailers and they work well too but are more cheaply made.
The last few weeks I've done a lot of door casings and multi-component baseboard, which required a lot of brad nailer use. It double fired at least twice a stick load, leaving a hole once the half-shot brad was removed. This morning I ordered the Senco brad nailer and a Grex pinner. Enough is enough.

Hope you got your problem taken care of. I've got an old Senco that has shot every brand of 18g I've ever put in it. Never a double fire. By the same token, I've also got a Bostich about 4 years old (not magnesium, takes oil and up to 2" brads) never had a problem with it, either. Both guns see heavy use, and I'd buy either one again in a heartbeat.I'm pretty sure I've seen Bostich nails at both HD and Lowe's. I can get Bostich staples from both. "what's in a name?" d'oh!
