Have an existing opening between rooms that we’re planning to put cabinets up against. The problem is that the stub wall isn’t deeper than the base cabinets. I’m planning on DIYing the framing and hanging the drywall to bump the wall out the 10″ or so that we need. I’ll have someone else mud it, b/c my limited experience with mudding has proven that I should just pay someone else to do it who won’t make a mess. So, here are my questions:
1) Do I need to remove the old corner bead, or can that be covered over so that it isn’t obvious?
2) Should I put tapered edges up against the corners? Probably obvious to anyone who does this for a living- I don’t.
Thanks!

1) remove the old corner bead and let the finisher do their own
2) don't need tapered edges in the corners. Drywall is generally hung horizontally anyway.
Good call. Thanks.
Tapered corners put the corner bead too low, it wont work like that.
