Ken, there's a on line tool dealer close to you in Florida (Builders something) that I bought from once. Great service, I still get an email advertisement from them once in awhile.
I bought one of those cheesey PlasPlus tile saws for about $65. There was a discussion on the old Breaktime about the saws, someone posted that they were on sale at Builders whatever for about $65 so I figured why not.
Seems like whoever was recommending the saw was someone I thought worth listening too, and the guy who posted the address was another old timer. Sorry I can't give you a better clue, I'll put it on my "remember while in the shower" list. Joe H
I buy all of my tools online to beat New Orleans's crazy 9% sales tax. Amazon is the web site maintainer for the Tool Crib which has excellent service and free shipping on any order over $25! But they may not be the cheapest. Another source that I have bought from before but is hard to find is Seven Corners Ace Hardware somewhere up in North or South Dakota. Haven't checked lately but the last time I bout from them everything in the catalog was shipped free. Great place to find everything. http://www.7cornershdwe.com/
Often I type in the model # and follow the links, check a few and get the best price.
I've been very pleased with International Tool Corporation out of Florida. Good prices, free shipping, huge selection. They also guarantee the lowest price.

Eschew, I used to use 7 Corners all the time but they sure have changed for the worse. No more toll free phone number and no more free shipping. Even their web page has gone down hill. Much better deals from Amazon or some of the others mentioned. -Ed
Seven corners is right here in Minnesota. Nice bunch of guys and if you call them with a better deal from someone else (like amazon) they will meet or beat them.
This is a hardware store you should visit.
Old fashioned wooden floors with literally everything right there. Want an obscure whatzit? they got several in a variety of sizes.
I said you could set me straight if I had screwed up, and several others have done it on their own, I apologize if I came on to strong. I get more advertising than I feel is needed, and sometimes overreact when it shows up unexpectedly. I know, you were not selling anything, but it just riled me up a little more than it should. Please, don't leave on my account, from here I am harmless. We always need good flooring advice, and I will try not to butt in.

That ask simon (mysimon?) place sometimes turns up tool options. I've actually bought quite a bit from Amazon for just the reasons mentioned (cheaper than most, free shipping, no sales tax). After an extensive search for a new rig, Bob's Tools in Iowa of all places was the lowest on Occidental Leather. Nice belt, after you break it in.
Please set me straight if I have misunderstood, are we now helping you do somebody else's market research? I'm not sure that is appropriate for the forum, but if so have him ask his questions directly! That way he gets information directly from who he is selling to. Survey says!
Dan
Is there a problem with this Dan? If so I will have this entire thead deleted and remove myself permanently from this board. Quite frankly I don't spend much time here as I did in the past and the reasons are due to responses such as yours.

I'm with dan. This isn't what the forum is for, and probably violates the intent of the rules if not the letter. I think your own response is more inflammatory than anyone elses has been. Don't let the door hit ya.
Your original question seemed okay although odd (not looking for info but how to find info). People mostly responded with helpful links to tool sites. Is there a problem with someone coming here because they don't know how to do their own job (web designer?) ? Seems a lot like may other questions posed here (How do a frame this client's gable?, How do I solve this other problem?) So I wouldn't have reacted as strongly as Dan did, but all these threads have always included a wide variety of reactions.
Your message 24056.14 with its links to your commercial website and its links to Festool's website certainly violate the non-commercial, non-promotion site rules.
But to answer your original question, I have searched for a specific make and model (e.g. "DW977K") and often get enough hits from that. If I'm not getting enough mail-order sites, I might add "check out" or "shopping cart" or "order online" to narrow the field. I never searched for anything as generic as "cordless drill" or "floor sander" because if I'm to the point of buying something, I've got a pretty good idea of the available products.

Btw, could someone contact the administrator and have them delete this thread?<img src="http://www.floridawoodfloors.net/Banner3.jpg" width="370" height="99" border="0"> </a>
