The frst house plans I did in CAD, I did on a 286 /16MHz /1MB RAM, the last on a 486DX4/100 16MB RAM. If you have money you don’t know what to do with, you could send it to me 🙂
Sounds to me like that system will be fine, just be sure you have some way to backup your work, that “6meg.harddrive” will be a big advantage there, since it will only take 4 floppies to backup the whole thing, ofcourse, Windows won’t fit in 6MB, so you’ll have to run DOS, but most DOS apps. won’t make much use of 96MB of RAM.
If you decide to maybe, get a 6 GigaByte drive, you’ll need something other than floppies for backup.

Jay, made a mistake the harddrive is 6gig and come to think of it the floppy is 120meg so all I will need is about 4 disk to do a full back up.
*I just installed Vectorworks/Renderworks on a 300 MHz laptop (Dell Inspiron 7000). 128 Mbytes Ram, 15" screen (awesome display!!!). 8 gig hard drive. Absolutely stunning machine!!! (Now they have a 366 version) Be sure to have a good video driver with extra VRam. You should call DiehlGraphSoft and ask them to recommend a video driver -- it will be your most finicky component as far as software compatability. Being a new release, Vectorworks still has a lot of bugs, especially with printer drivers and video drivers. Check out their website. Also check out a great discussion board devoted to Vectorworks/Minicad. http://peach.ease.lsoft.com/archives/minicad-l.htmlYou'll see what problems hundreds of other people are experiencing with the new software. I have very few regrets about Vectorworks, save for its documentation (really awful.) You'll just have to "play" with it for a while to learn it well, as well as be on a first-name basis with tech support.

*just ordered vectorworks w/renderworks. Does anybody know what kind of power i need for a laptop? I'm thinking Pentium ll 300, with 96meg ram and at least 6meg.harddrive. Power drawing will be done with 19"screen plug in.
