yea, I know
there are a million of them
lots of specific use caulks/sealants
But which is your favorite general use one?
Me, don’t have one, looking for a good one.

Sherwin 1150 for acrylic latex, NP1 for concrete, PL premium I like for behind window fins, under door sills, and generally anywhere where other things might not stick. Just don't get it on your golf shirt.

20003.1 has some data about caulk recommendations.
Man, that was some serious caulk whatever it was. The thing actually held the weight of that sheet when it was swung open with me hanging on it.
A hinge made of 30 year old caulk. I'll never forget that.

WHITE LIGHTNING!!!!! Ten times better than standard caulks ... about the same price. Sherwin Williams now owns the company that produces it and they usually have it available in their stores. I can also sometimes get it at Lowes or HD. They have a web site and make an impressive array of special formulations. I have reccommended it here before and been profusely thanked by the guys who used it as a result. Less shrinkage, better flowout, fewer air pockets, easier tooling, superior durability, better flexibility (especially long term), etc, etc. The ubiquitous Alex is not worthy of comparison.

PL Premium if you want it stuck forever

Phenoseal. I live on a barrier island and the stuff lasts for ever. I even use it on my wooden hunting boats.
I was at home despot and they had some demonstrations of differing products,
and one of them happened to be "Sikaflex" that they started caring about 3 months
ago. It is an adhesive that is paintable and less than 4 bucks a tube. They had a
demonstration piece with two blocks about 1/2" apart that were held together
with this "caulk". The flexibility and grip of this caulk is astounding. I've got the
sample next to me as I'm typing. I've been pulling on it and have yet to pull it apart,
but it is starting to tear in the center. It is still stuck to the blocks. One other thing, it
is waterproof.
For general caulking use the Dap Alex Plus. available @ Home Depot at a very good price in the white $2.00. Its also available in contractor packaging.
Almond is around $4.50 per tube.
As also said, Sikaflex is also a very good Caulk. I have used it for caulking around window nailing fins, decks, and Stucco paper to seal penetrations, as well as seal under threshold on entry door and Patio door.
