been fighting a central air unit for 2 weeks looking for a leak, finally found it,it is the low pressure switch that is leaking internally.
problem, i had just filled it with freon.
so this switch is fed with a little 1/16 inch line, do you think a guy could squeeze it or crimp it tight enough to cut the line and solder the end shut?
i just hate to evacute it and recharge, but i don’t want to cut the line and have freon shooting half way to the moon!
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE – WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN’T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN’T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.

man.... hell i'd try.... i'd do a tripple crimp... i'd fold and squeeze and fold some more... you'll be lucky if you do... but if you can crimp it that well then the solder is just extra protection anyway right?

That switch is there for a reason.
Next time the system leaks that missing switch won't tell the compressor to stop.
You'll be needing a switch and a compressor.
Course, might never leak again, might be obsolete and due for a new system by then too.

well it is a old system, but i don't really see the need for the low side switch,i probably don't have another unit out there running a low and high switch, this one has both, only the low is leaking.do any of the new low end to med have them? i guess if i really wanted i could put one of those that screw on the shrader valve and be coverd?
when it gets low on freon and stops cooling, rest assured i have a warning system called "a renter"!YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'TMOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THEDUCT TAPE.
I'd by pass it too, but if the compressor smokes cuz of a leak I'd know who's fault it was.

Go for it, it's done all the time.
Mainly on refrigeration systems with lower presure, but it's still pretty easy.

I don't think you need to, but if you turn the system on it will reduce the low side by about 50 - 75psi.
Either solder or braze... pick your poison.
