Can I use sandblast sand to mix 3/1 with masonry cement type S?
…….it’s easier to handle this bagged stuff than schlep the miniscule yardage of washed sand I need to make a 4 cubic foot pour.
Money’$ not an object here. Maximum convenience and minimal time and mileage traveled are, but I don’t want to poison my mortar either.
This stuff looks just like sand. A little bit courser maybe.
Thank you.

I am not positive, but I do not think you should use sand blast sand in your rich mortar mix.. I THINK the problem is that sand blast sand is too round whereas masonry sand is more angleure (sp) and the mortar will hold together better. I do not think you will get the strength you need with blast sand. I could be all wet on this however.---WW 57
I think you are right.
Most masonry sand is called "sharp", and is graded finer.
