I am in the final stages of completing my finish basement and am ready to choose carpet. Any opinions on whether to lay the carpet, over pad, directly on concrete floor, or is a subfloor necessary. The floor was poured with a poly vapor barrier and there are no moisture problems after 10 years.

Bob, you say there are no moisture problems... Have you tried taping down some 4 or 6 mil poly for a few days and seeing if any moisture condenses on the underside? That's always a good check... perhaps not the only one, but it's worked for me.
Good luck, Steve
