I have an old cast iron bathtub that the enamel is flaking off of around the drain. I would like to wait about a year until we get our new house built before I completly gut this bathroom. Is there any type of paint that can be used on the area that is flaking off. Function over style.

Yes. Clients recently had a claw foot tub and a sink "fixed." Repair guy scratched the outside of the tub bringing it, and just rolled some paint-like substance on it.
Most of the repairs on the inside look they were painted, too. Clients are happy, but I'm glad I wasn't responsible it.
Bet you gan google up the paint.
Must be, and that is all.

Product called Porc-A-Fix; thick base coat is trowelled on with a small paint spatula, popsicle stick or knife blade. Lacquer based, so it dries fast. Sand smooth then brush on the glossy color coat, using the brush in the cap [like nail polish].
