I go through a fair amount of caulk doing remodeling, but I’ve been noticing serious problems lately across major brands of Silicon, oil based, water-based, interior, exterior, kitchen/bath, general purpose.
On projects in my home and test pieces; they don’t do what they promise… ….shrink, crack, deteriorate, just disappear. Yes, I follow all suggested procedures. Yet, 10 – 20% fail. Surprized I haven’t been called on this by a customer.
Suggestions on brands or application?

I have had problems with acrylic caulk lately.
The stuff I used on my house trim has cracked, I cleaned it out and recaulked, it cracked.
So I am looking for a good paintable caulk for interior uses as well.
In my limited experience, I recommend elastomeric caulk. It is very flexible but still paintable.
Who makes this caulk of which you speak?
I use it at work. I will get back to you tomorrow.
Some swear by big stretch caulk.
I have looked for that around here, can't seem to find it. The big boxes don't carry it either.
Ace hardware sells it, or you can order it online and ship it to the store for free.
You can order from their website direct and get it sent to your house.
Stilletto,Another vote here for the Big Stretch. Very durable and easy to work with, too.Bill
