Anyone know if this can be done? I thought I read a year or so ago an article about it in FHB—–dunno. Finished with a mud bed I think
Anybody out there that could lead me to a good article on the subject?
Much appreciated, Jason

Check out the prefabricated concrete backer board shower pan systems at bonsal.com. This manufacturer also makes pre-fab curbs, shower niches, etc all out of backer board. Could be a real time saver if you can find a local distributor...

I don't know if I would trust my joints to be very waterproof on a site-built version.
Thanks Kevin..........
Looks pretty nice-----I still swear I read an article about something similar in Fine homebuilding....Dunno

I remember that piece, too. I think it was about three years ago, but I can't find it.

Odds are you wouldn't want a CBU shower pan. It's not waterproof and if you screw it down you would pierce the pan liner underneath it.
A better option would be Schluters shower pan kit, complete about $500. HD can order it for you. What I really like is the square drain cover! No more cutting round holes in tile!!!
Yeah wango=== I think the point of the CBU showerpan was to avoid double mudcoats..............
You still had to put in pvc or some type of liner over it.
