   I am finally building my own house and I'd like to have a home shop. How would I go about puting a basement in a garage. Everytime I build a garage I think about the space that is available down there. Any idea's or suggestions

   This has also been a question of mine in times past. You could use any of the traditional building materials; wood beams, steel, or prestressed prepoured concrete beams. Each will need to be engineered for the anticipated loads, both live and dead loads. Cost should tell you whether this is a viable and economic consideration. Good luck.

   I am on AOL and they discontinued a room like this recently and would like to find another one like it... or invite anyone interested to join me in what is left of that old AOL chat room....

   The only way to tell you how to get to this old house talk room is via email or buddy find in aol...
