Hey Piff - Here's "A cheaper CAD for you guys looking"... FREE! It's called ProgeCAD LT 2006 Version 6.1.7
Download it at
http://www.progecad.com
- Brian.
Thassnks - maybe I'll try that sometime. I have an older Intellicad. As for now - my download manager tells me this would take about 22 hours to download onmy dial-up system, and that is while slowing down my BT access to donate bandwidth to it.

Holy smokes... thanks for the link! Ordered it right away. I fairly often have to design non homebuilding items and this looks like a great deal.

So... a $100.00 cad software package for just $7.50??????????????????
What's the catch?
There's gotta be a catch....
I can't seem to find any "small print" ....
The 'catch' wouold be that IMSI is now marketing v12 or so. by letting this outfit make the older version available to the general public they increase their exposure like getting free advertising. Then when you register the product upon installation, you will immediately informed that there is a newer versiuon available that you can purchase at $X.00. You'll probably get on a mailing list where they will send you and offer to upgrade to the new one or the pro version for $Y.00. But none of that prevent6s you from being perfectly happy with this version. I occasionally use a V.4 or V.7 still.

The current version of Turbocad Deluxe is 11 or something like that. I've used it for a while and it is a very nice product. Not a heck of a lot of difference between the versions (but some nice improvements). Turbocad 11 is something like $150, though, so for the difference this is a screaming deal.
IMSI (the manufacturer) is always offering relatively cheap upgrades, too, so this is a good way to go. They have a very nice 2D/3D training CD video available showing examples of using the software. Nice sexy british voice and pretty good information, too.....
