What is the deal with the GMC and Chevy trucks that have only one headlight that works? I have seen it a lot in the past few months.
Just wondering, Turtleboy

I noticed that for the last 2 yrs or so..it's the DRL not the headlights..

NO NO NO NO--Don't tell me this! The headlights are the only things on my truck that have never given me trouble!!!!

You are right that it isn't the headlight but rather the DRL. I just thought it was odd, then I thought it was me, as I couldn't keep track as to which side the light that worked was on.
Now, where can I find some Sandvic tools?
Thanks for the info, Turtle
scandanavia? sweden? switzerland?

What is DRL???
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming.... WOW!!! What a Ride!
DRL= Daytime Running Lights
IMO all cars/trucks oughtta have em. I see SO many idjits driving in rain/fog/snow with no lights on...usually in a paint color that is like camo in bad weather..maybe a switch that activates lites when the wipers are on would help. But then again, the same idjits probly don't use wipers either.

My only beef with the DRL's that on my 2000 chevy van, is that I don't know the proceedure to turn them off. Leaving a job at dark, lights come on.................tail lamps do not............don't notice until I get out in the dark country and the instr. panel is black..........sure to get pulled over for no tail lights. I'm good at turning on the lights when needed, don't need the auto function. Anyone know the proceedure to counter the DRL?Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Cal, some states require them if factory equipped. If ya set the EBreak ONE click...some times that works. Another way, is to totally disable by the wire from the fuse block. Another way is the "flash to pass" from the headlight stalk..(if so equipped). Another way is the dealer (check the manual, it may say how) or a visit to GM is in order..
Ebrake trick is a go on Fords ...won't hurt if ya just go one click.
Pullin the wire won't affect normal headlight function.

spere, tell me about the flash to pass........
the ebrake does work that way.
But then, I'll get used to that dash lt. on, and forget when I really set it.

Cal,
flash to pass, turns on the "low beams" ( it depends on the vehicle)
if the e-brake did it, then, thats yer "eleltronic set up"..
I have an older GMC (199?) who cares?
the stalk oughtta show a dash light ( green) for DRLS...rotate ( or pull the handle off and look fer a screw) CCW...on GM's it will disengage the photo/ ignition "on" circut.
IF ...ebrake did it..leave it alone..

I've got a 2000 GMC. Both lights are out.
My mechanic told me that the socket that holds the light was originally used as a brake light or directional signal, intermitent usage. Not made to take the heat of the DRL being constantly on. Gotta be fixed at the dealership, but haven't gotten to it yet.
Bowz
i've got a 90 GMC that just got the tranny rebuilt, practically the entire cooling system, half by me the other by a mechanic, and now the left marker light on the plow frame blinks....???????......dunno.....don't care....... till I get pulled over.
oh did I mention my tailgate is falling off?
from what I hear for that truck, 90 Sierra 1500, the tailgate thing is common.......anyone with a tailgate for sale??
Thats not a blemish....we call that character
