Hi all – we are just finishing building our new timber frame home which has varying width wide pine floors. We are using waterlox tong oil 2 coats and then one coat of a low gloss on it. Not polyeurothane (sp??)
How do you all clean your wood floors?
thanks-
Dana

You might want to post the finish technique on Breaktime. With tung-oil, I'm not sure the finish will stick. The two could be incompatible, but you'll probably receive some good discussion on the finish and if they are not compatible, you will save yourself a lot of grief. If you are female, think of it like this...if you soak your nails in an oil solution and fail to remove all the oil, the nail polish won't stick. However, the low gloss product you mention may be formulated to be compatible.
Once you are sure on the finish, the key things to remember are to primarily use a dustmop or dry Swiffer-type product. Avoid allowing any water standing on the floor, including wet-mopping, and use walk-off mats at the doors coming in from outside to keep the tracked in grit from scratching.
Good luck and enjoy your new home!
P.S. Read the other post from a few days back about this topic for other info, if interested.
