I’ve got a shabby chic project going. Bought a salvage door, plugged the mortises and bores, and have primed and painted it. Top coats are Moore Satin Impervo oil paint. I want to do some scuffing and scraping, cutting thru to the various colors under the surface and also to the wood itself. Wondering if a satin oil based poly will stick to the paint, or if I need something else?

Used to do that for kitchen cabs, and you should be OK. Hint, TINT the poly slightly with OB stain ( minwax is fine) it will add dark in the crevices and behave like a glaze for an antiquey look.

If you are going for a tinted look, you will be fine. Just remember that straight out of the can, oil based poly has a slight amber tint so you will never get a true clear finish from it.
