I’m contemplating redoing my deck in a composite material rather than PT or cedar. I live in Canada, just east or Toronto and would like some input on what are the best quality products and the most economical or ‘bang for the buck’ as this stuff is considerably more than cedar.
Thanks,

Which composite?
I have worked with a handful of the various products out there, and they are pretty much similar in construction and price.
Mostly in whatever brand you choose, the grey color will likely be the best price.
I myself do not like the "hollow tube" variety. To much of the built up looking trim/end cap pieces.
I am also not a fan of the solid composite with the kerf/slot in the full length - just another unsightly detail at the ends.
I would seriously look into hidden fastener systems for composite decks. I have only used Shadow Track. but would like to try the Kreg jig system. Be warned - hidden fasteners are much slower to install.
When it was available in my area, the composite decking by Certainteed was my favorite. They also had a 1/2" x 10" trim that was great for overlaying the rim joist of a deck.
No that my supplier dropped Certainteed, I mostly use Trex.

I'd almost have the same response you gave.
I didn't like the t&g product that had 3 legs on it's bottom. It had a v-groove down the middle-name escapes me-manufactured in Columbus, Oh. Needed to NOT bang it together so you had the waterways to look through along the joint in the boards. Didn't like hot dog juice either.
Used Boardwalk for a couple summers when it was the Year of the Deck-seems my work comes in waves. Liked that stuff. Held up good, cleans up and had more gription and no "domed" top like Trex had at the time. I remember Pro-Dek and I talked about the curved top of Trex-he tipped me to rout the roundover along and parallel to the edge-rather than run the router along the top.............duh.
I'm not sure if Certainteed didn't discontinue making it. About the same time Trex came up with a yrs problems, of which they've corrected I think.
