I need recommendations of a good quality composite decking in a dark brown such as Timbertech in Tropical Walnut or Trex in Woodland Brown. My main concerns are fading and mildew. I’ve read some negative things and want to know your real world experience with composites. I will be installing in Minnesota.

I've used timber tech a few times with no trouble at all. I really like the t&g style it's easy to install and no screw heads showing. As far as color fast it really holds up well in Wisconsin area. Make sure you have proper air flow with the t&g style. GO VIKES Kjell Hatlevig Premier contractors llc
I installed trex saddle tan two years ago in NE Illinois. It does fade, and it does mildew, but a simple washing with deck cleaner took care of the mildew. Certainly prefer trex to lumber. Also, I used 12" centers to avoid the wave.
I like the new Accent Trex with the wood grain. Fading is not much of an issue here in the Northwest but swelling is because of all the rain.
Make sure you use the yellow Trex spacers in your installation.
All the composite decks are much hotter in the sun than wood so warn your customer to put sandals on before walking on this stuff.
Here is a couple of shots of Madeira Trex we did a little while ago.
