I saw this today at home depot for $99
Looks like the regular price is $299 so this is a red hot deal

saw something like that a month or so ago--only it was bostich
bostich comp. and numerous guns------wasn't $99---might have been $325 or so

Don't plan on working in the same room with the compressor.
You get out of life what you put into it......minus taxes.

Because it's too noisy? When I saw the compressor and three nail guns for $99 I thought to myself "that has to be the lowest price ever"But maybe I'm wrong?
If you can get it at that price, stop wasting precious time telling us about it and go get it. Worst case scenario, if you don't like it you can sell it on ebay for $200 easily. Or part it out and get maybe 300. But I'm guessing you'll like it. I have the compressor and yeah, it's a little loud, but not the worst I've ever heard. Also, I leave it at 120 psi 24/7 for the past year or so, and no rust at all. Comes in handy when I need to shoot just a few nails or fill a tire.

The compressor will sell easy on CL for $130, the 16ga gun will sell on CL for $75, the brard and staplers guns will sell for $40 each easy.make you a quick $180 that way.I just picked up a Makita LXT hammer drill/recip saw combo kit at HD for $199 - sold the recip saw, the hammer drill and one battery to re-coup the cost spent - ended up with a tool bag, a new battery and a new charger for FREE.JT
I've compared the cost of renting some tools, and realized I did better buying the tool and selling it when I'm done.
Many years ago, when I thought rotary hammers were something special, I bought a Makita RH on ebay, used it, then sold it at a profit. See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

My question: will it run a framing gun? Not everyday, just the occasional decking job.
Absolutely will run a framing nailer, and every day too. Will run a lot, but it can handle it.See my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

Thank you. I've been considering the PC for awhile, but have got mixed reviews. I thought about a reconditioned Campbell Hausfeild with a 20 gallon tank at 150 psi for $130 but I soon realized that there had to be a reason that so many were being reconditioned. I think the PC will fit my needs perfectly, then.
I thank you, but I'm sorry to say that my wife probably doesn't like you now ;)
I don't see how you could buy a new one for less than thisBut maybe I'm wrongOur home depot has these in boxes in the main aisle along with other things on sale such as packages of screwdrivers made in china, metal tool boxes, shop vacs, and misc other items
That's okay, neither does mine. =DSee my work at TedsCarpentry.comBuy Cheap Tools! BuildersTools.net

have used one to power a hiatichi framer.
Nuff said. The only framer that would get me away from my Bostitch would be the Hitachi.
Bostich makes a framer?>G<
Yes. <G>

Wow I messed upI went to HD tonite and looked at them and they are priced at $299I went to the pro desk and asked if they were priced at $99 yesterday and she said "no I don't think so"I was in there yesterday morning and I thought I saw a sign that read $99 but I guess I misread the signI'm not sure what happened but I apologize for the confusionI talked to another guy at the pro desk and he said they were selling them for $99 on Black Friday, the day after thanksgiving.
On black friday my Lowes had the compressor by itself for 85 dollars.Webby
thats funny,i read your first post at 7.15 by 7.20 i'm at hd,don't see any.now i see your post at 7.30. that willteach me to read all the thread.
oh well while i was there i found a ts 4000 torch clearanced out, mine just shot craps this week. YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'TMOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THEDUCT TAPE.
Glad you found a torch Larry.I have bought the compressor and three nail guns twice and I was thinking I paid $149 the last time which was a year agoI ran a search on the internet and the lowest I could find was $189Sorry I sent you to HD on such a cold niteI took my dog in for grooming at Petsmart this afternoon (beside town west mall) and I like to never got out of there - the parking lots were full with people starting their christmas shoppingBefore I forget, I emailed the auctioneer and asked him what the house sold for two weeks ago (riverside) and I haven't heard any thing back.Have a good christmas!
no,problem, you know how far i live from hd!
i don't know much about dog grooming, the one we have now is the first one i ever had to have groomed.it's a labradoodle. anyway i have spent like 70. at petsmart. i found a lady in riverside that did mine for 45 and did a much better job than petsmart.thats a 65lb dog. if your interested let me know i have her number. I was in HD this morning and I was visiting with an associate and I told him I swore I saw a compressor and three guns for $99 and he figured out what had happened. They have a compressor and ONE GUN which retails for $179 and IT IS IN THE SAME BOX AND IT LOOKS JUST THE SAME He said it may have been on sale for $99 a couple of weeks ago
Now we are getting the whole story!
I feel bad about getting your hopes up
I don't know if the other posters mentioned it, but porter cable sold their compressor alone for $99 on black friday. By the time I got there, they were all sold. Lowes has a porter cable on sale today (New Years Eve) for $159 with no guns. I am going to get that one as soon as my Lowes Gift Card gets here from my dad.
Unless of course, enough people tell me to buy something else. I've asked the question on breaktime before, but now that its go time, I need a definative answer. I've got it narrowed down to the Porter Cable pancake and Hitachi twin tank compressors. There is almost a one hundred dollar difference between them. If you guys had the choice, which one would you get? I'm most worried about my framing gun. The ten gallon compressor I've got now cuts in at about 90 psi, which is a little low for dense material or say a joist or something that has alot of bounce. I think that a cut in of 100 psi should be plenty (the Hitachi), and I'm quite sure that a cut-in of 120 psi (the PC) would be good too, but I'm a little worried about the low CFM of the Porter Cable. My compressors mostly just run air guns, but if either of them could run an impact gun, that would be good too. Honest opinions would be greatly appreciated, sorry if you've already sat through this discussion with me before. By the way...............................
.......................HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
low CFM of the Porter Cable
That stopped me from buying it. I ended up with a Rigid 4.8@90lbs.
Seems to have plenty. I had a craftsman with 2.8@90 and I always had to wait for it to catch up.
My vote would have to go to the hitachi. The PC pancake is an oil free, whereas the Hitachi is oil lubed. It will outlast the PC and be quieter to boot. The PC is a bare bones bargain compressor. The Hitachi is a bit more serious. I myself have the Campbell Hausfeld twinstack and it was cheap $139.99 on Amazon, and has kept up with my nailguns, framing and finish.
I guess my question to you guys is, will the Porter Cable at least keep up with my framer? Bear in mind, that I don't do the carpentry work every day, just on the weekends. My boss told me not to buy the PC. He said that he went through three of them before he stopped buying them. Strong argument there, but he is really tough on tools. I just about choked when I saw him using my three hundred dollar Paslode to "nudge" a peice of trim into to place. I'm thinking that if I do go with the PC (the cost is a positive) I just wont tell him I bought one and that way it might last longer. Basically, I want the new compressor to keep up with the occasional moderate framing or roofing job.
I don't have near as many tools as most people hereI've been thinking about what I've gotI wish now I had bought used toolsPay half of retailThis is what I should have done because I just don't use this stuff enoughI bought a $250 nail gun for roofingI used it once a year and a half agoLast night I oiled it and put it back in the caseIt's probably hard on these tools sitting there in the garage and getting used once a yearThere's probably lots of tools out there that no one is using and you could buy them for pennys on the dollar
When I was still in Vegas, I would buy tools off of guys who had enjoyed themselves a bit too much over the weekend, for what ever the pawn shops would give them.
I'd give them two weeks to buy them back with no interest. I ended up with quite a few high quality tools for bargain prices. Best deal was a Porter Cable drywall sander and vacuum for $150.
I was on a tool repair forum recently- There were alot of posts about that PC compressor. I wouldn't bother with it. My bro in law has one-It is noisey as heck and just feels cheap. Go with the twinstack. Better to have more compressor than you need than realize you don't have enough. Hitachi makes great air tools. I have 3 Hitachi guns. If my compressor dies, the replacement will be another twinstack, either hitachi or Makita.
go several better and go with a Rolaire compressor....

I have a Rolair twintank and am quite happy with it, altho a bit temperamental for startup in the cold. The PC compressor s^cks, noisy little bastid, low CFM, won't handle a framer or roofer adequately, and is certain to die 'prematurely'. Get the Hitachi, good deal.

use synthetic oil in the rolaire and pass on the Hitachie...

What compressor did you end up getting?
Still waiting on the card! I tried to call my dad last night, no answer. He may be mad at me for bugging him about it. Tell me if you guys think this is a good deal: A Campbell-Hausfield 17 gal (I think) 150 psi (3.8 scfm @90) compressor, reconditioned for $139. My boss had an old Campbell compressor that finally blew up. Not the best compressor by any means, but it got the job done. Should I go for it?
only issue with that compressor would be lack of portability. You wouldn't want to lift that thing in and out of a truck!
3.8 scfm @90)
I like to get over 4, but at that price I might slow dow a fraction.
I was finally able to get through to my dad. The Lowe's card will not be for as much as I had hoped, but hey, it's a gift card to Lowes! It looks like I'm going to end up with the Porter Cable after all. I think it will be fine for what I need it for, and come to think of it, I had a Bostitch compressor with the same CFM as the PC and it handled two framers on a dormer/deck job just fine, with only a few pauses waiting for the compressor. The PC wont be nearly as overworked, as it wont come on these bigger jobs. I'll keep everyone posted once I get it and maybe help anyone else decide if they are shopping for one too!
Sure you do!!!!!!!!!
I didn't realize how old your post was til just now, but the 16 ga nailer in that combo kit was my first finisher and it still works great (6years)though, I have had to change the driver pin once...I have since upgraded to ONLY dewalt and bostich guns for me(crew and subs get the others)
All I ever wanted in life was an unfair advantage...
