i’ve been told by my concrete contractor neighbor that i can pour a new concrete slab over my old asphalt drivway.
the old driveway has settled in many places, and it seems that the right class 5 rock with the right rebar reinforcement would do the trick without tearing out the old asphalt.
it is about 14′ x 24′, in the middle lattitudes of minnesota.
i’m not opposed to ripping the old one out , but as a remodeler i add new layers to old work all the time to old houses, and thought i’d bounce this off of you all.
thanks, rg

it will crack, big time
1 man and bobcat could clear the asphalt in about an hour, see whats under there , and if in good shape level it with some stone. If you can afford a few inches of hieght add a cpl inches of stone for drainage.
cheers.
Run over b*c*t with a skip loader? You'll have to form a queue . . .
hehe
forgot about that issue,
Should read, 1 man and skid steer.....

Sounds about right. If it is like most driveways, renting the backhoe attachment for half a day will ofter be worth it (for getting in close, or for breaking the stubborn bits, or, most importantly, for that been-patched-every-stinkin'-year sinkhole that wrecked the driveway in the first place).
i had planned to rent a bobcat and demo the xtg, and build it up with rock, etc.
my neighbors suggestion to overlay it seemed a little weird. thanks for letting me bounce it off of you. rg
Well, anyway, asphalt won't hurt as much on the bouncing it off of everyone as concrete!
