I live in the Caribbean and I thinking of using concrete kitchen countertop and for flooring, how hard is it to be maintained. Are there any other suggestions for countertops and flooring.

If you don't get many replies here, you may want to try asking at Breaktime (first one after "Other Taunton Sites" at the top of this page). I see nothing wrong with plastic laminate counter tops, but concrete would be fine too. Very hard, which means if you drop a glass on it, it will probably break. I like concrete floors (though I've never had one)--especially those that have been acid stained. Nice thing about them is you can put radiant heat in them--probably not a major concern for you!
