Anyone ever built a conference table? I’m looking at building one about 12′ long, curved sides, straight ends. I’m guessing it should come apart for transportation and moving also?
Any thoughts, recommendations, etc?

Fine Wood Working had an article on big tables a few months back.
*Matthew,Any idea which issue? Maybe I can go search the site? Thanks.Mike
*I've built very few but one trick I learned was: The legs are normally small in comparison to the top, so we made the legs to be filled with sand to add weight. This kept the top stable and not prone to tip over. Who knows what sort of activity will happen on the conference table.....
*A modesty panel on edge between end panels (and connected to with slide/lock hardware) stabilize a large top.

*Just designed two in 2001 (completed) for Princeton University - center pedestals with pop-up power/CIT - slightly curved edges with traditional molded profile.Best thing we did was to use heavy QS cherry veneer on the top (from Certainly Wood 716-655-0206) to allow for field refinishing. Tables are screwed down to the floor. Pedestals have access panels. No pics yet (sorry). They are gorgeous, IIDSSM.Jeff
