Construction Jack at Duluth

| Posted in General Discussion on November 20, 2003 10:55am

I finally had time to take a peek at my Duluth Trading catalog and was surprised to find Construction Jack on page 4.

He is a GI Joe-type doll, and comes complete with safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toe work boots, tool belt, tool box, tape measure, hammer, hand saw, work shirt, overalls, and work jacket. (I could build some dinky, little saw horses to go with.)

Do you think I should buy one for my 10 yo daughter? She is a “piece of fluff”, very feminine, insisted on wearing dresses everyday until she was 9yo, but recently wanted to try on my toolbelt. . . it was so heavy for her she could hardly walk, but a big smile spread across her face.

Gee, I wish they made a Construction Jill, too. . .

I won’t post a direct link, because it will make the page too wide, so just go to
www.duluthtrading.com

(I’ll try to post a picture of Construction Jack next, but I am just learning this stuff. . .so no promises)

Give him to her as is, sort of a blue-collar Ken.  That way Barb has a real good idea what the guy does to make a living.  Wonder if he's anatomically correct?

    I never met a tool I didn't like!

      How about this:

      Construction Jack

Wonder how long 'til Barb starts complaining about the kitchen that Jack promised to renovate when they bought the house a couple of years ago. "Gee, Jack, you fix everyone else's house, why not ours?"A shortcut is the longest distance between two points.

Remember the Nissan commercial from a few years ago where Barbie runs off with GI Joe and leaves Ken high and dry.

This Jack guy could really ROCK Barbies world!

Show up to remodel the kitchen and Barbie is really impressed with the way he handles his tool.....................

OH the possibilities are endless!!!!Mr T

Cabella's has a Hunter Jill (also with some cool accessories), might need to do some mix-n-match.  or not, seeing the way most construction types are dressed for the season . . . )

Should not speculate "out loud" like this, but I can't help but think that the companion to Construction Jack would really be Construction Jenn . . .

Great idea! And Construction Jen would have a nice truck, complete with tool boxes and a rack!

Sorry Darcey - Jen's already GOT a rack.

Well, SOMEBODY had to say it!Q: Why do men find it difficult to make eye contact with women? A: Breasts don't have eyes.

Gee, guess I was the only one admiring the rack on her truck!

I'm thinking that she would have power tools, too--let Jack use a hammer & hand saw . . .

Of course, this rather does beg the question of, Which miniature power tools?  Senco?  Big Red?  DW? . . . Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)

I'm thinking Deluth's "Mug Boss" sales are going to go up in direct proportion to their "Construction Jack" orders. Looks to me like a custom made accesory for a man of his stature.Kevin Halliburton

"I'm thinking that she would have power tools, too--let Jack use a hammer & hand saw . . . "

Yes she would! Especially those power tools that make up for girly-musckles, like those sweet 'lil impact drivers! (I find the dewalt has more power, but the makita runs longer on a charge.)

Obviously, Duluth should have consulted us first. <g>

I wondering if the little, dinky tape really works. . . maybe I could make some sawhorses out of popsicle sticks!

maybe I could make some sawhorses out of popsicle sticks

Could.  Let's see, 12" figure is 2" = 1'-0" 'scale,'  that would make a 2 x 4 about 1/4 x 5/16 or so.  Might need a sturdy popsicle stick.  Bass looks better and holds a nicer edge.Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
