About 3 days ago, I started smelling what I assume is freon(coolant?) from both sections of the refrigerator. I smell this when I first open the doors but smell goes away if I leave the door open. I don’t think this is the food smell. I once damaged a refrigerator while chopping away at a freezer ice, not the same refrigerator. The Sears mechanic came to look, and he said that he did not smell anything and that there was no problem in the parts he looked. He looked at evaporator fins (frost top to bottom) and the condenser in the back. Am I imagining things? I moved to a new house about a month ago. Did moving jar loose some part? I tried some other sites that talk about refrigerators but not one mentions that freon can leak or a smell other than food. I am hoping that the accumulated experiences in this site can help. The warranty ended 2 months ago. If the refrigerator has to go, is it worth trying to get the Sears to honor the warranty or should I just go and buy new? Thank you all for any advice.

Freon is odorless. Is it still cold? If it is cold, it is not leaking. If it is not cold something is rotting and soon all will be green.

Freon is actually not odorless. If it is freon, the smell will eventually go away.
