I’m about to start a rewindowing / residing project using vinyl windows and prepainted hardiplanks. Tyvek housewrap under it all. My question is this: For the windows I was thinking of using copper head flashing made from copper and kraft paper laminate that is typically used in masonry type work. I think the copper detail will look great on the house, but I can’t find any reference to anyone using this material. Any experience/ideas/laughter?
(Why not just use straight copper you ask? ‘Cause I’ve already got some of the laminate and I’m cheap.)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I built a craftsman style house with Hardie Shingle. I used copper flashing. It looks good and holds up well.
If you're talking about the thin copper foil used for termite proofing, and other things, I don't think it will work for head flashing. The head flashing should be held out from the window casing by at least an eighth of an inch, to let water drip from the flashing, rather than run down the window. Thin copper won't hold itself up. You're better off getting someone to make you a 1 1/4" Z flash, and just returning the ends yourself, unless you've got a totally different idea up your sleeve than what I'm thinking.

Zak, thanks. this copper is about 0.01 inches thick, so I think you're probably correct, too thin. Okay, I'll bite the bullet and get some real copper flashing done.thanks to all for responding.
