*The only special way I know to attach the dishwasher to the top is into a piece of wood let into the Corion drop edge; there is a jig made especially for this, and it is done in the fabrication shop. I've never heard noise mentioned as a problem,( but the dishwasher is the weak link in a SS countertop due to the heat buildup in one area, just FYI).

*I told my homeowner that I had never heard of anything like that before, when she told me. I just wanted to make sure there wasnt something that I was missing. Thanks to all, Glenn

*Adrian, man, what do you mean when you say "...weak link...due to heat..." what can happen? Discoloring? Disfiguring? Expound a little, will ya'? Thanks - jb

*Glenn, If vibration with this particular dishwasher is a trueissue, perhaps a solution lies at fabreeka.com/shock/index.html Regards, Rick

*Cracking. The problem is when the SS expands in one localised area, and then cools, and then expands, etc. It is recommeneded you don't place seams over a dishwasher, and there are special ways to build up the corners of cooktop cutouts and other places where heat builds up (the buildup blocks are shaped to carry heat safely away from the vulnerable area). It's pretty important also to make sure the counter is never installed over a solid substrate, or directly on solid cabinet tops without drilling holes for ventilation, so you can equalise the forces around the SS, cause it does move and the environment does affect it. The other big thing is the countertop can never be fastened so securely that it can't move in response to environmental changes; you are supposed to use dabs of silicone which accomodate some movement. Each manufacturer has a tech. manual available that spells out some do's and don'ts (and what voids the warranty). But dishwashers are tough on the stuff.

*Cracking due to heat is the reason DuPont took Corian off the retail market. Radiused Cooktop cutouts and metal duct tape for heat distribution are among the fab requirements for the factory licensed shops.

Homeowner told me that the appliance guy told her that the dishwasher she just bought was going to be loud because she has corian couunter tops? Has anyone had trouble with this? Is there a special way to secure dishwasher to top? Any help would be appreciated.

*put the dishwasher in the garage. or maybe isolate the screw to countertop with a rubber washer. do the feet too. you might add some fibre glass to the back. dont think tthat would cause a prob. best of luck to ya. ask the homeowner to go back and tell the sales man that she took out the corian and put in a lam. counter because of what he told her and it still makes noise. see what he says to that.
