Hey guys,
Just noticed we have a 1/4″ crack in our basement
foundation wall. It goes down the side of a window
well window all the way to the floor, getting thinner
at the bottom. I’ve never noticed it before, so I
think it’s probably happened with the last month. It’s
about a 50 year old house and it’s a stone foundation.
It seems a previous owner has slathered some sort of
concrete (or concrete-like) paste all over the wall,
so it’s hard to say exactly whether the crack goes
through the rocks or between them.
What can I use to patch this most effectively? I’m
worried with winter & spring I might have an indoor
waterfall on my hands or worse. There is also, in
spots, a crack along where the floor meets the wall,
any suggestions on fixing that as well?
I’ve been told everything from caulk to concrete.

Dap concrete patch in a caulk tube is good. You can patch with a number of other materials though.
