my breaker box is set up so that any new wiring that is added has to cross a conduit that houses the wiring for the outside unit of my heat pump…. my question is, is there any special spacing or anything else I should take into consideration before installing additional wiring? (if I have not articulated; the existing condiut runs horizontaly. because of the location of the box any additional wiring needs to cross this vertically….) can I do this?

......no special rquirements,..... provided things are done in a workmanlike manner, and you fasten the pipes within three feet of any junction box or condulet.
.
conduit layout is part function, and part form...
.
.plan your runs and drop them into the panel so that there is a sense of order and not a can o' worms. it makes tracing the runs easier months or years from now when you forgot what you have done
.
do you know how to bend conduit?
For this run I am using sch 40 1" pvc. I saw that there are pieces available to give a little change in the run. almost s shaped.... My assumption is that you use. two of these. one to give you space to come over the existing conduit and then another to get back to the same plane as the origional run.... is there an easier way?
you're on the right track, what you are making with those little pieces is called an offset. I wrongfully assumed you were referring to EMT before. the fastening requirements for PVC are different, and the conduit must be protected from physical damage .. and sources of heat.......also you WILL have to pull Grounds EVERYWHERE you run that PVCWhere I work, the only method allowed is EMT, and I have never used anything else in all but two houses in all my years as a sparky...
I always made my PVC offsets; saddles; etc.; with a homemade form and a heat gun. Sometimes I skipped using the form if it wasn't going to be visible. (above a dropped ceiling, buried under ground, behind a wall; whatever.) Just had to be careful not to scorch the pipe.
