I did a crown molding tutorial on my site, updated the old one actually during the rebuilding of my web site… anyway, I thought I’d share it with my fellow members here (as if you need the reference) I tried to make it interesting for beginners to pros.
It’s in under “Owners Notebook” in the owners tutorials section.

Good idea. I think crown questions are one of the most oft asked things on the forums. You could call this a pre-emptive strike!
Anybody else got similar links? This could be a great resource thread.

Alereagle,
Very well done. The math section was interesting even for a seasoned pro such as myself. I must add that your website is quite impressive.

Thanks, all!
Thought I'd pass a few tricks of the trade on... nice to know it wasn't a waste of time. :)
Thought I'd mention that http://www.altereagle.com/ seems to be having trouble, so if that's the case for you use the shorter url http://altereagle.com/ if you are trying to get to the "crown moulding tutorial" that is?

Don't know if you covered this or not ...
The most important tip I ever learned about getting a good fninshed look is that you snap a line on th eceiling, not on the wall. That's the line you see after the fact ... the straight line along the ceiling. Unless you're about 7'6" tall, a straight line along the wall doesn't mean much.
Yep!
Thanks though that's a good one, I suggested using a quick marking guage due to the fluctuations you can get and marking upper & lower with it at intervals on the studs before the straight line.View Image
