I am replacing a vanity countertop in an older bathroom. It is surrounded on three sides with ceramic tile. I want to use a one-piece cultured marble vanity/sink combo, but will have to cut it to fit. How do I cut this stuff? Like Corian, using a route and carbide bits? Or should I forget the cultured marble and just go with plywood covered with formica and a drop in sink? Thanks.

Barry,
You can cut cultured marble upside down with a carbide blade but it does chip a little. The prefered method is with an abrasive blade. Cut to within an 1/8" then use 36 grit belt sander belts to finish. Do it at the end of the day so you can shower. The dust will cake to you like a fog.
