I recently installed a wood floor, 1 x 8 quartersawn white oak. This is over a plywood subfloor and a vapor barrier of 15 lb roofing felt. The floor was nailed and then we came back and drilled holes and screwed the floor down as well. It was finished with BONA Traffic, a 2 part water base finish. Now two weeks later the floor is cupping.
I am will ing to tear out the floor and reinstall it, but what measures should I take, or ask the owner to implement to prevent this from recurring?
The owner thinks we should have put it up on 1/4″ screeds.
Should I seal the floor with tar? Is there anything other than drying out the underside of the house that will solve this problem?
thanks
john
