Any easy tricks? Doing a simple roof, but real long rakes. Holding on with one hand and running hook blade up the drip edge, my right wrist was screaming at me that night. Any sort of snips that would work good?

I've used a good heavy set of tinsnips for this job. They work great, but you'll have to sharpen them or throw them away when you're done.

*lonecat, try using a straightbladed utility knife on the underside with a 2x block on top, then fold and snap the shingle excess off.
*Yup! what Ken said.
*duh... am i the only one in the world who cuts the rake shingles to fit ? also... don't you guys use roofing snips ?
*Thanks, Guys!
*I do the same. Just seems like too often the shingles are hooked back far enough to show drip edge or a ragged looking cut.I don't believe it really increases the time much and it allows for a good 1/4" of overhang.Terry
