Finished a bathroom floor tile job today. Went pretty well, if I do say so myself. Went to reset the potty and found a surprise from the original plumber (10 yrs ago). When I pulled the potty to start work, all I did was stuff a carpet scrap in the hole and scrape off most of the wax. Today I discovered that the bozo, in an amazing display of brilliance, added a glob of hot solder to the flange to keep the bolts in place. Of course I didn’t happen to have a torch handy …

That does sound like it might be a bit of a pain, but what does it have to do with the plumbing in a dam??
There must be a whole lot of plumbing in some of those dams.

Another day, another tool.

Yep. Last one I dug into had a 14" gap in the drain pipe. HO couldn't figure out why he was getting a sinkhole on the back side of the dam, dammit. One incompetent dam plumber, for sure.
It was so deep I had to dig a hole for my hoe to sit in before I could get deep enough to find the pipe, or where the pipe was supposed to be. Kinda wondered if the reason for the sink hole might swallow up me and my tractor when I got there.
What's really funny is this particular dam got built with public money for erosion control to "save" the Chesapeake Bay. And all it did was accelerate the erosion and downstream silting. Dam plumber! PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
