What is the correct way to bump out a daylight basement w/ slab on grade floor? One method I have heard is to cut out the stem walls and excavate a crawl space, then use convetional joist flooring. How do you connect the old slab w/ the new joist/ sub-floor? Would you put a footing and stem wall at the edge of the old slab also? Why not continue w/ a slab on grade? Is it because there would be a cold joint in the concrete floor?I live in Seattle?
Thanks,
Greg
