Well, my wife just took a tumble on a hardwood floor. Landing at the top of the staircase–we’re lucky she caught the rail.
It got three coats of a urethane finish, looks great, but oddly, sometimes has an oily and slick feel to it.
The underlying wood was mixed oak (red and white).
Sigh.
Besides taking out the finished wood and putting in a raw teak strip at the top (I’ve thought about that), anyone have any ideas?
We carpeted everything reasonable, but this is a problem elsewhere in a our newly remodeled (7 months) house as well.
Thanks!

Get her the footie things with rubber dots on the feet.
Johnson's non-slip floor wax. Their floor wax shines just as well as their furniture wax, but it does not have a slick feel, instead it gives your feet a bite. Good luck!
Johnson's non-slip floor wax?
Looked for it on line, but couldn't find much information.
I did find the "one step" wax and the paste wax...
But I don't think that's what you are sending me after...
Any other reference?
Thanks!

Maybe, like so many other things, it is no longer manufactured. I got mine in the housewares section of an older hardware store. That's another thing that keeps on disappearing, GOOD hardware stores. Fortunately, Hartville Hardware still is around. If they don't have it, I quit looking. Good luck!
I just checked online and found these::

I haven't used this brand
Here's another Johnson's product, Stop Slip:

I have no experience with this one either.
I think a non-slip treatment will be a lot easier and a whole lot less expensive than anything else.

Thank you.
I will look at those; I think the first product might harm a wood floor but the second might be alright.
Thanks!
another coating of urethane with pumice mixed in..
